Riding Lessons in Southwest Ranches, FL

Private and semi-private English riding instruction for riders who own or lease their horse — from building a confident partnership to polishing a competitive round — seven days a week, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Lessons for every stage

Riders come to L'Écurie for very different reasons. Some are eight years old and ready to build a real partnership with a pony. Some rode through college, stopped for twenty years and want to start again without being rushed. Some are already competing and need a coach who will tell them the truth about their position. All of them are taught in the same careful, classical way: seat and balance first, then control, then height and speed.

Because we do not keep a school of lesson horses, every rider works with a horse they know — their own or one they lease. That continuity is the point. Progress here is measured not by how many different horses you sit on, but by how much better you and your horse become together. Beginners develop a secure seat and steady hands on the flat, often on the lunge, learning to steer, stop and post before anything else is asked. Intermediate riders build a usable leg, a following hand and a workable canter, then begin poles, cavaletti and small courses. Advanced riders work on pace control, striding, turns and the discipline of riding a plan rather than a feeling.

Private and semi-private instruction

Private lessons give a rider undivided attention and are the fastest route to real change. Semi-private lessons suit siblings, friends and riders of matched ability who benefit from watching each other work. In both cases the horse is yours or one you lease, so the work you put in during the week carries over instead of starting from scratch each ride.

We believe the best riding is built on a bond, not just a seat. When you know your horse's moods, habits and limits, the lesson stops being about surviving the next fence and becomes about making genuine progress together. Lesson length, frequency and goals are agreed with the instructor rather than sold as a fixed package. Most riders improve fastest on one or two lessons a week with time in between to absorb what they learned.

Booking, scheduling and safety

Lessons are requested through the member portal or by phone and confirmed by the trainer, and you receive an email and phone notification when a request is approved, rescheduled or declined. Reminders arrive the day before and again about an hour before you ride. All scheduling stays inside our operating hours of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, seven days a week.

A signed liability waiver is required before a first ride — minors are signed for by a parent or guardian — and ASTM/SEI certified helmets are mandatory for every rider in the arena. Boots with a heel are required; we can advise on the rest before you buy anything. Riders must bring their own horse or arrange a lease; we do not provide lesson horses.

From first lesson to first show

Riders who want to compete move from lessons into our jumper training program when they and their horse are ready, with schooling shows first and rated competition afterwards. There is no pressure to show; plenty of our riders are here simply because they love horses and want to ride well — and they know the best way to do that is to keep showing up for the same horse.
